Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.LabCorp is seeking a strong Hematology Technologist to join our team in Houston, TX.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 12am-8:30am, overtime as required, occasional weekends and holidaysShift: 3rd shift, this position is eligible for a shift differentialJob ResponsibilitiesDetermine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteriaPerform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating ProceduresMonitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityDemonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solvingPrepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controlsReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient carePerform and document preventative maintenance and quality control proceduresIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessaryAssist with processing of specimens when neededMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipmentMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a MLS degree Preferred Qualification:Current or prior Labcorp experienceASCP or AMT certification1 year or more of hematology and coagulation testing experienceAdditional Job StandardsProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systemsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsAble to pass a standardized color blindness testFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needsBenefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
