Manager In Training (Part Time)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Reports To: Store Manager. Summary The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of each product area in the store, determination of methods to achieve store goals, and promotion of policies, procedures, and standards. The Manager in Training promotes sales and serves as an ambassador, creating a unique customer experience, acquiring and retaining long‑term customers, and providing outstanding customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of the store. Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments. Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends. Ensure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Deliver extraordinary customer service, helping customers as they enter the store and during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise. Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards per the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals. Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence. Carry out supervisory responsibilities per company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Qualifications Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel. 1-3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profitability. Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks.
