Security Analyst

Salary: $35,360 - 41,600 per year Requirements:

• We require CompTIA Security+ certification, or an equivalent mix of relevant college coursework, cybersecurity education, and/or industry certification.
• We look for a foundational grasp of cybersecurity principles, including networking basics, common attack techniques and threats, the CIA triad, authentication and access control, basic vulnerability concepts, and core incident response practices.
• We expect familiarity with SIEM and/or XDR technologies.
• We value strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• We require excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• We need the ability to follow established procedures while applying sound judgment.
• We look for the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated and to brief senior team members with concise, relevant information.
• We need someone dependable, organized, and able to work independently during scheduled shifts.
• Preferred qualifications include CompTIA Network+, CySA+, or a similar cybersecurity certification.
• Preferred experience includes hands-on use of SIEM, XDR, EDR, or other security monitoring platforms.
• Preferred candidates may have basic scripting or query experience with tools or languages such as KQL, SPL, PowerShell, or Python.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and methods such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and MITRE ATT&CK is preferred.
• Previous internship, academic, lab, help desk, IT, or SOC experience is preferred.
• Experience with ticketing, case management, or security incident tracking systems is preferred.

• We monitor security alerts and events using XDR and SIEM platforms.
• We triage alerts based on severity, risk, and urgency.
• We perform initial investigations of suspicious activity and security events.
• We independently resolve routine or lower-severity security issues.
• We escalate higher-severity, complex, or ambiguous incidents to senior analysts with clear and complete documentation.
• We follow established incident response procedures, playbooks, and runbooks.
• We carry out recurring audits of network assets, user accounts, endpoints, and security configurations.
• We generate and review security health reports.
• We monitor patch and vulnerability status, endpoint health, user access and permissions, account activity, security configuration compliance, and anomalous or suspicious activity.
• We identify trends or recurring issues and bring them to the Security Operations Lead.
• We maintain accurate and timely documentation of investigations, findings, actions taken, and escalations.
• We ensure security events and incidents are documented in line with established procedures.
• We follow organizational security policies, procedures, and technical standards.
• We identify gaps in existing playbooks and runbooks and recommend improvements.
• We maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment when handling sensitive security information.
