What you’ll do The Dispatch Supervisor ensures that transportation operations run smoothly and efficiently. The role involves coordinating delivery schedules, managing driver routes, and ensuring compliance with safety and DOT regulations. The successful candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with food sourcing, warehouse, and donor teams to direct drivers for grocery rescue and donation pick‑ups. Work with community impact, agency partners, and operations teams to guide drivers throughout the delivery process. Coordinate with inventory control, volunteer engagement, and Project Preserve to facilitate efficient inventory transfers and shuttles between food bank sites. Adhere to and execute food bank safety policies and procedures, OSHA, and Fleet Safety DOT Program, prioritizing safety for all equipment and personnel. Execute incident‑management processes as required, including incident reporting, towing, and HAZMAT response. Conduct ride‑alongs with drivers, coaching on processes, efficiencies, and safety compliance, and report findings to the Director of Transportation. Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Transportation Specialist to achieve DOT maintenance and document compliance for all equipment. Gather and report transportation performance and cost data to the organization. Manage departmental KPIs to ensure on‑time delivery and performance goals are met, communicating insights to the Director of Transportation. Partner with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and commercial vehicle suppliers on maintenance and logbook support for commercial equipment and passenger vehicles. Train drivers on food safety compliance. Build strong relationships with team members and business partners, fostering collaboration and cross‑functional teamwork. Assist in continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of new digital tools. Participate in driver evaluations, quarterly driver meetings, and other operational process meetings. Assist in evaluating equipment purchase, lease, and trade decisions. Collaborate on audit preparation and support. Maintain relationships with donors and the Food Resource Team. Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule & Travel Monday – Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Occasional evenings and/or weekends may be required for meetings or special events. Occasional out‑of‑hours duties may be necessary to respond to emergencies or community events. Occasional daytime travel (up to 50% of the work week) within the local service area. CDL‑A license holders must provide current auto insurance and acceptable MVR results. Qualifications Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred. Experience : 3+ years of related experience and/or training preferred; 5+ years of related experience or management training required. Licensed Class A CDL preferred. Minimum of 3 years as a Class A CDL Driver preferred. Experience with GPS tracking and Trimble routing software preferred. Benefits & Compensation Competitive base salary with performance incentives.
