Senior Payroll Specialist

In this role you will support the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll across the APAC region. You will be responsible for managing payroll processing, maintaining employee payroll records, completing payroll controls and reporting, and providing support to employees and internal stakeholders.

Supporting Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, you will process Australian payroll in-house, oversee New Zealand payroll activities through iPayroll, and coordinate payroll inputs and validation with an external payroll provider in the Philippines. You will also contribute to payroll projects, process improvements, and initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the APAC Payroll team.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Process payroll across Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery while maintaining employee payroll records and managing payroll changes.
• Perform payroll validations, reconciliations, reporting, and controls, investigating discrepancies and partnering with Finance to ensure accurate payroll accounting and month-end outcomes.
• Provide responsive support to employees and stakeholders on payroll-related queries, delivering a high level of service while handling confidential information appropriately.
• Maintain payroll data and processes across payroll, HRIS, and finance systems, ensuring data integrity and supporting audits, compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, automation, and reporting, while contributing to system enhancements, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, and external providers to support team objectives, share knowledge, and ensure effective payroll operations across the APAC region.

What You Need To Bring:

We're looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:

• Prior payroll or payroll accounting experience, including hands-on payroll processing responsibilities.
• Proven experience processing New Zealand payroll, with Australian payroll experience highly regarded. Exposure to multi-country payroll operations across APAC is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax requirements, leave entitlements, and employment regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a compliant and practical way.
• Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, ideally including iPayroll, Xero, and/or Workday.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to perform data analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and problem-solving using complex spreadsheets.
• Experience preparing payroll journals, reconciliations, variance analysis, and payroll reporting in partnership with Finance teams.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Glean, to improve efficiency, analysis, documentation, and knowledge retrieval while maintaining strict data privacy and security standards.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate, confidential, and high-quality payroll services.
