You'll lead accounting operations, strengthen financial systems, provide meaningful insights, develop team members, and partner with leaders across Christ Church and the broader Christ Church Ecosystem.Here, your leadership doesn't just manage finances — it fuels ministry and makes growth possible.You'll help ensure resources are managed with wisdom, excellence, and integrity.You'll work alongside a supportive, innovative, and mission-focused team.You'll build systems and processes that strengthen ministry for years to come.What You'll DoAs the Accounting Director, you will lead six core areas that strengthen the financial health and operational excellence of Christ Church: Accounting Leadership & Financial Reporting, Internal Controls & Compliance, Audit & Financial Management, Financial Systems & Operational Excellence, Budgeting & Financial Analysis, and Team Leadership & Collaboration.These core areas come to life through the practical, strategic, and collaborative work you'll lead:Lead Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting:Oversee accounting operations across Christ Church and the Christ Church Ecosystem, including General Ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close processes, and the accuracy and integrity of financial records.Strengthen Internal Controls & Compliance:Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), processes, and internal controls that safeguard organizational resources, promote accountability, and support sound financial stewardship.Lead Audit & Financial Management Processes:Coordinate the annual audit process, partner with external auditors, maintain audit readiness, support compliance requirements, and ensure accurate financial documentation and reporting.Drive Financial Systems & Operational Excellence:Oversee financial systems, reporting platforms, integrations, and process improvements. Partner with internal teams and external vendors to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, scalability, and stronger financial operations.Support Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Decisions:Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and insights that help leaders align resources with organizational priorities.Develop & Lead the Finance Team:Provide leadership, coaching, development, accountability, and support to Finance team members while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service.Why This Role MattersEvery ministry moment at Christ Church is supported by faithful stewardship.The Accounting Director plays a vital role in ensuring our financial foundation is strong, sustainable, and positioned for growth. You are a strategic thinker, a skilled problem-solver, and a servant leader who brings both financial excellence and a heart for people.You know that great financial leadership isn't just about managing numbers — it's about creating clarity, building trust, and helping teams accomplish a greater purpose.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management required.Experience in managing mid-sized accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close cycles.Experience developing and maintaining financial procedures, processes, and internal controls.Experience providing leadership, oversight, or development of accounting/finance team members.Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and across departments.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other CharacteristicsStrong knowledge of General Ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and account analysis.Understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting practices, and internal controls.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, projects, and financial systems.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.High level of integrity, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability.Must have a strong team-player mindset—the ultimate goal is the Team wins!Preferred QualificationsCPA certification or working toward CPA designation preferred.Previous Controller, Accounting Manager, or financial leadership experience.Nonprofit, church, or ministry accounting experience.Experience with fund accounting, donor contributions, and restricted funds.Experience coordinating annual audits and working with external auditors.Experience with Sage Intacct or other similar cloud-based systems, as well as Rock RMS.What We OfferMedical, dental, and vision insurance403(b) retirement plan with company matchCompany-paid life and accidental insuranceGenerous paid time off to rest and rechargeA supportive, faith-filled team environmentFringe benefits that make life a little easierAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA)At Christ Church, we believe every team member should have the chance to shine.
