School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Algonquin, Illinois

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic educational environment. This contract position offers hands-on experience working onsite with a manageable caseload, helping children enhance their independence, participation, and success in both general education co-taught and self-contained programs.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Illinois COTA license required
• Experience in a school-based setting strongly preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with occupational therapists, teachers, and other support staff
• Flexibility in adapting strategies to meet a variety of student needs
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Familiarity with IEP documentation and progress monitoring

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct therapy services to a caseload of approximately 30 students in grades 6-8, adhering to individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Support students in general education as well as self-contained classes, adjusting interventions as appropriate
• Assist the supervising occupational therapist in developing activity plans and documenting student progress
• Collaborate with faculty and support teams to promote inclusion and maximize classroom participation
• Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and confidentiality
• Contribute to team meetings, parent communications, and intervention planning
