Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician ensures the reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, gearboxes, couplings, conveyor systems, and production machines. This role focuses on identifying and resolving mechanical issues, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining detailed documentation while working closely with cross-functional teams in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, gearboxes, couplings, conveyor systems, and production machines to ensure consistent and efficient operation.
• Observe equipment in operation to identify mechanical issues, using precision measuring tools and following diagrams, sketches, and engineering specifications to diagnose and resolve problems.
• Remove, repair, and replace defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools, ensuring proper installation and alignment.
• Set up equipment, make necessary adjustments, perform minor repairs, and replace tooling to maintain proper machine functionality and product quality.
• Control downtime by communicating preventive maintenance techniques to production workers and ensuring they follow established procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including detailed reports on issues encountered, corrective actions taken, and preventive measures implemented.
• Collaborate closely with production employees, leads, process managers, and engineers to maximize machine uptime and support process improvements.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, spare parts, and materials required for maintenance and production, and communicate needs in a timely manner.
• Perform required preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on schedule and actively support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance and production areas.
• Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and workplace organization standards to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Participate in other duties or special projects as assigned to support operational goals and improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 35 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience performing maintenance and repairs on industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, gearboxes, couplings, conveyor systems, and production machines.
• Proficiency in using measuring devices, including rules, scales, gauges, and fixtures, to diagnose issues and verify proper equipment setup.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes of mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to perform equipment setup, adjustments, minor repairs, and tooling changes safely and accurately.
• Capability to use hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools for removing, repairing, and replacing parts.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work under deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with production employees, leads, process managers, and engineers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to document maintenance activities and communicate with team members.
• Positive, self-motivated attitude with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of an Industrial Maintenance Program is a plus.
• Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
• Power truck experience (such as operating powered industrial trucks or similar equipment) is a plus.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Experience working in a flexible packaging or similar manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a structured environment that emphasizes safety, organization, and continuous improvement.

This is a Permanent position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $90000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
