Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II trauma teaching hospital, requiring 4 years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Adult critical care and emergency department patient populations
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required, with 2 of 3 winter holidays required
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13 or 26 week contract options
• Must float within scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Current RRT certification and BLS required
• VA state license required (temporary license accepted if candidate holds an active license in another state)
• Minimum 4 years of experience required, though candidates with 2+ years will be considered
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases
• Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, nebulizer, and aerosol setups
• Two professional references required
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to critically ill adult patients including ventilator management and airway care
• Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and suctioning procedures
• Assist with bronchoscopy and manage patients with ARDS, aspiration, and pneumonia
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed prior to submission
• No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• No radius restriction for this unit
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
