Transportation Engineering Intern (Traffic) - Summer 2027

Your impact By joining our team, you'll be a key member of our Traffic Engineering group in the San Antonio, Austin, or Houston, TX offices. You'll work on a variety of transportation and traffic engineering projects related to traffic operations, safety analysis, corridor studies, traffic simulation modeling, signal timing & operations, and traffic design (signals, signs, pavement markings, illumination, ITS, etc.). Work will be performed utilizing Big Data, with traffic engineering software including Synchro, Vissim, Highway Capacity Software (HCS) as well as traffic design software like OpenRoads and SignCAD. What You'll Do As a valued member of our Transportation team, you will support technical analyses, studies, and design efforts for municipal, state, and federal clients. Responsibilities may include Performing traffic analysis tasks such as data collection, reporting analysis results, and writing technical reports. Performing civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignments. Demonstrating proficiency in design software (such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Openroads, etc.), traffic simulation software like Synchro, Vissim, and other office production software. Researching design options and documents findings for project engineers and/or project managers. Assisting with duties assigned by project engineers and/or project managers. Maintaining effective communication with project team members and with clients. Here's what you'll need In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in an accredited program with an emphasis in transportation. Interest in Traffic. The base salary range for this position is $50,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
