Quality/Test EngineerThe Quality/Test Engineer I role focuses on developing and maintaining robust quality control processes to ensure reliable, accurate production and testing activities. You design sampling procedures, create documentation and instructions for recording and evaluating quality and reliability data, and support continuous improvement of quality management systems across the facility. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to multiple areas of quality engineering, from process control and product evaluation to metrology and automated testing, within a dynamic manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesDevise sampling procedures that support accurate and reliable evaluation of production output and test results.Design and develop forms, templates, and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment, testing instruments, measurement tools, analytical equipment, and related facilities.Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems, including conducting audits and gap analyses to identify areas for improvement.Write training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities to ensure consistent application of procedures and standards.Participate in quality audits, including ISO9001, ISO17025, or CQMS, and help prepare documentation and evidence to support compliance.Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvement across production and testing operations.Collaborate with cross-functional teams in areas such as design, incoming materials, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative applications.Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure adherence to established standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and supporting corrective and preventive actions.Communicate findings, recommendations, and quality performance metrics clearly to stakeholders at various levels within the organization.Essential SkillsExperience with quality management systems and quality assurance practices.Experience auditing ISO9001, ISO17025, or CQMS (desired).Lead auditor experience in a quality assurance or quality management context.Ability to perform gap analysis on quality systems and processes.Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification.Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex quality concepts clearly and concisely.Critical thinking skills to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.Emotional intelligence to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage stakeholder expectations.No degree required for this role; practical experience and internships are accepted as work experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsInterest in or exposure to specialized areas of quality control engineering, such as design quality, incoming material inspection, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software quality, research and development support, and administrative applications.Ability to create clear, user-friendly documentation, forms, and instructions for quality-related activities.Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with foundry and machining operations.Ability to learn and apply new quality tools, standards, and methodologies as the organization evolves.Internship experience in quality assurance, testing, or related engineering fields is valued and considered as relevant work experience.Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing facility that includes foundry and machining operations. You work closely with production, testing, and analytical teams, using various measurement and analytical equipment to support quality activities. The environment is hands-on and dynamic, requiring attention to detail, adherence to safety practices, and comfort operating in an industrial setting. Collaboration with multiple departments is common, and you can expect a mix of office-based analytical work and time spent on the production floor observing processes and equipment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Mapleton, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
