Survey Crew Chief

Overview Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Land Survey team in either our Plainville, CT or New London, CT office. This position is responsible for leading field survey crews and overseeing the execution of boundary, topographic, ALTA, right‑of‑way, and construction surveys for public and private clients. The Survey Crew Chief serves as the field lead, ensuring accurate data collection, proper equipment operation, and adherence to project requirements and safety standards. Operate and maintain survey equipment, including GPS and robotic total stations. Collect field data, perform calculations, and maintain accurate field notes and records. Coordinate with project teams, clients, and other staff to support project objectives. Direct, mentor, and develop crew members to support their growth within the surveying profession. Research deeds, easements, right-of-way documents, record maps, plans, and other survey records. Maintain survey project files, field data records, and indexing systems. Assist with office survey functions and mapping compliance activities as needed. Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with company safety policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements A detail-oriented professional with a commitment to accuracy and quality. What You Bring Minimum of 8 years of experience in boundary and construction surveying. At least 5 years of experience managing a survey field crew. High school diploma or equivalent required. Proficiency with GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and Carlson/AutoCAD software. Knowledge of professional surveying practices, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations affecting land surveying and boundaries. Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of walking, hiking, standing, and occasional sitting. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate survey equipment and tools. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain. Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment. Additional Requirements Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Connecticut and surrounding states as needed. Willingness and ability to work at various project locations, including occasional overnight travel when required. Ability to meet client and project‑specific site access requirements, including successful completion of pre‑employment and/or random drug and alcohol testing. Why Loureiro?
