Police Department Compensation Plan Full Time 226 2026-2027 Starting Hourly Rate - $26.25 per hour 2026 27 School Year - 226 workdays Beginning 2027 28 School Year - The position will transition to a 260-day work schedule and may be assigned to one of three shifts (day, evening, or night) based on departmental operational needs.

Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, receives emergency and non-emergency calls from the District staff and the public and dispatches police or contacts other emergency agencies, as appropriate. Monitors police and District radios for calls for assistance.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification)

• Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hold a valid Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, or Master Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Telecommunicator's License, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Have current Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) and Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) Full Operator Access certification from DPS, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Have current Criminal Justice Information Services training, or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Must have experience with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Preferred 2 years' experience as a Police, Fire, or EMS Dispatcher or 911 Call Taker, or equivalent work experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position (working in a high-volume call center, problem solving, multitasking). Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience.
• Experience with Spillman Flex Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) & Records Management System (RMS) software, or ability to learn software quickly after hire.

Major Responsibilities

1. Receive calls requesting immediate police and other emergency services, such as medical, fire, and after-hours issues affecting District operations: dispatch police or contact appropriate emergency agencies/personnel; effectively interface with callers to obtain required information and provide reassurance, as necessary; accurately complete related department logs and records regarding emergency call activities.

2. Receive non-emergency calls from District staff and the public: provide directions, information or other assistance, as requested.

3. Monitor the Greater Austin/Travis Regional Radio System (GATRRS) PfISD PD frequency & PfISD District radio system frequencies for officer or District employee assistance.

4. Access TLETS and TCIC databases to provide police officers with information on individual's driver's license status, vehicle registration information, wanted or stolen statuses, and Computerized Criminal History (CCH) information.

5. Monitor the District's Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system to alert police officers and District security personnel of situations that may require their response or to observe potential officer safety risks to alert the responding police officer to.

6. May provide administrative support to the department to include greeting visitors, answering telephones, filing, typing, preparing technical police reports, maintain and update designated logs, files, databases, and maps, make copies, as well as fax information and correspondence.

7. May train less-experienced Dispatchers, as requested by department management.

8. Obtain and maintain in-service training and certification levels as required by the department, TCOLE, TCIC/NCIC.

9. May assist Records Division to identify, research and disseminate information and documentation regarding Open Records Requests.

10. Communicates with the supervisor on administrative matters within the department or community concerns.

11. Prepare written documentation as needed on an accurate and timely basis.

12. Maintain confidentiality of information and records and security of the police department.

13. Clean and otherwise perform routine maintenance of the Police Dispatch area as needed, such as change printer/toner cartridges, add paper to copiers, and have vendor contacted for service as necessary.

14. Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.

15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Sound working knowledge of department dispatch/communications policies, procedures, and practices; District policies, related City ordinances and state and federal laws; and pertinent jurisdictions for police, fire, and medical services.
• Thorough familiarity with general office procedures/processes and specific departmental procedures, and proficiency in using common office equipment and software applications, and experience in accessing law enforcement databases.
• Ability to effectively operate radio and other communication devices, computer and related department software, and typical office equipment.
• Ability to work in an office environment and establish priorities and to quickly establish priorities while performing multiple tasks, while working calmly under stressful conditions.
• Ability to interface professionally with District employees and other governmental agencies or officials, and the general public.
• Ability to understand complex oral and written instruction and technical or terminology to handle administrative issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong time and task management skills.

Working Conditions

Prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions; maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry at least 35 lbs.
