Registered Nurse/RNAt Hands of Heartland, we operate on the idea that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can do just about anything they put their minds to and that they deserve a safe, supportive, and creative community in which to explore and achieve their aspirations. We are looking for someone to join our Nursing department as we grow and serve more individuals. The Registered Nurse/RN provides routine and emergency assessments and nursing care to ensure optimal health status for each individual we support. This position will house in Lincoln, NE and will travel weekly to West Point, NE, and other sites as needed.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCoordinate physician and health care services for people servedConduct health care assessments and write health care plansFacility training and orientation of new staff regarding healthcare proceduresProvide on call assistance to staff as neededDocumentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner on the appropriate formsEngage in health promotion, prevention, and education activities (i.e., assess for risky behaviors and attempt behavior change)Assess acute and chronic conditions that could result in rapid physiological deterioration of life-threatening instabilityFacilitate admissions, transfers, and/or discharges of patientsManage the medication system, administer and document medication treatment.Screen and monitor participants for medical problems/side effectsTravel to other sites in Iowa and Nebraska weeklyOther duties as assignedEducation & ExperienceMust be able to be licensed as a RN and able to work in the state of Nebraska & Iowa1 year of general nursing experience, preferably in IDDA valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation is requiredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust have excellent time management skillsMust possess well developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all levels of staff within the organizationMust be highly organized and responsive to immediate needsMust have sufficient knowledge of computer systems (Word, Excel and Outlook) to develop and maintain necessary programs to support quality assurance activitiesHoursMonday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pmWeekends offPaid holidays offBenefitsEligible for flexible PTOEligible for Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for self and familyRetirement optionPlus many more benefits!Essential Functions/Physical RequirementsGood hearing and visual skillsAbility to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds
