Primary Function Responsible for assisting the Health Services Component in assessing and implementing a quality, comprehensive Health Services Program for all children enrolled. Will ensure all physical, dental, and screenings are conducted on all children within the required time frame. Will also be responsible for assisting the Health Services Supervisor in meeting ACF's current Head Start Performance Standards, as well as, maintaining the required documents

- Responsible for abiding by PCI Policies and Procedures, as well as adhering to Head Start ACF Performance Standards and HHS (Health and Human Services) Minimum Standards, and CACFP, relating to Health Services.
- Will ensure clinics are scheduled for dental treatment for all centers in their assigned area, including those children identified as having special needs.
- Will coordinate, implement, and monitor all Health Services for PCI children.
- Will assist RN with monitoring Texas Health Steps effort and make recommendations when necessary.
- Will assist Family Service in keeping health records on children enrolled up to date in the Child/Family Files and at the Health Services Office.
- Will assist where assigned/needed, including the vision and hearing screenings, or as needed in the dental clinic.
- Will conduct Vision and hearing screening for assigned enrollees.
- Will attend Parent Committee meetings as scheduled, to provide guidance, support, and technical assistance.
- Will track and submit completed Health Services Source Documents to the RN prior to the 3rd day of the following month.
- Will assist with monitoring Texas Health Step Medical Checkups Periodicity Schedule effort and make recommendations when necessary.
- Will maintain a tracking log on all children enrolled to include Physicals, Dental, Dental Follow-up Referrals, Vision, Hearing, Immunizations, and Hematocrit findings.
- Will help to secure supplies for the First Aide Kit for all centers you are assigned.
- Will ensure each enrollee receives all required health screenings within 45 days of enrollment and all physical and dental exams within 90 days of enrollment.
- Will administer emergency First Aid treatment for children and staff when required.
- Will assist Family Service Worker with referrals and follow-ups and will interpret records for parents and staff.
- Will work with Family Service Worker and the ECC to ensure consent forms are signed and notifications are given to parents for Dental clinics scheduled.
- Will work with Family Service Worker and ECC to ensure health receives the notification of all new enrollees, withdrawn, or transferred children to ensure 100% compliance on Dental Exams and Physical Exams.
- Will ensure that center staff has a copy of all clinic schedules for the month.
- Will complete the Health and Safety Checklist for each center you are assigned at each visit.
- Will submit a referral to Nutrition Services for all children who are anemic, 95% overweight, or below 5% underweight.
- Will assist Community Volunteers in securing In-Kind from parents/volunteers during health clinics.
- Will attend Health Multidisciplinary Staffing.
- Will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Reporting Child Abuse - Responsible to report child abuse and neglect or suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with the policy set forth in the PCI Employee Handbook, Head Start Performance Standards, and applicable state laws regarding child abuse.
- Confidentiality of Information - Responsible to maintain the confidentiality of information pertaining to children, families, and staff as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards and PCI Employee Handbook.
- Code of Conduct - Responsible for abiding by all standards of conduct as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards and PCI Employee Handbook.
- Ability to work with individuals with special needs, different ethnic or cultural backgrounds, or languages.
- Ability to assess children's health requirements in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Able to take vital signs with little or no Supervision.
- Work is performed in a child development center & office environment, in which employees may experience limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate walking, standing, stooping, sitting, kneeling, bending and twisting, pushing/pulling, overhead reaching/reaching, and keyboarding.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek, work late and/or on weekends.
- Subject to visual acuity, speech/hearing, hand/eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift 5 -10 pounds frequently, 10 - 50 pounds occasionally, more than 50 pounds infrequently.
