Attorney

A high-end boutique firm with a dozen attorneys in downtown San Diego is seeking a litigation attorney to join their team, who will work on a variety of commercial and business matters, including data privacy and data security cases. This litigator should have 5-10 years of experience.

Responsibilities of Role :

• All forms of written discovery – responding and propounding, and understanding objections and using them appropriately
• Depos - taking and defending
• Motions - discovery motions, demurs, motions to strike, MSJs, MSAs, motions for sanctions, or any pre-trial motion handled at the pleading or discovery phase
• Court appearances - hearings and CMCs
• Trial (if you want it) - jury instructions, figuring out what exhibits need to be listed, joint trial readiness conference reports

· Billable requirement: 1850 for associates. Most attorneys hit it, there’s no shortage of work.

Profile that would be a fit:

· 5-10 years, no more, no less, ideally at a semi-recognizable firm (sorry, no PI or family law).

· Coming from big law and burned out on cut throat mentality, wans more mentorship, or fewer hours. Or people who truly care about your career.

· “We don’t do well with people who are all about themselves they don’t seem to last here!”

· Someone who knows enough about civil procedure – doesn’t need practice area experience

Requirements:

• J.D. from a top 100 law school and active bar membership as a licensed attorney.

• Approximately 1-5 years of litigation experience, with stronger alignment for candidates who have handled complex civil matters or mass tort/class action litigation.

• Law review experience or a judicial clerkship viewed favorably. Strong writing skills required.

• Experience practicing in federal court is strongly preferred, particularly in matters involving dispositive motions or other substantive briefing.

• Knowledge of finance, accounting, capital markets, or broader economic concepts is a plus.

Pay is contingent upon experience above, combined with stability on resume, quality of schooling, and fluency within the practice area.
