CDL Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Transportation Director, drive a school bus or van for the youth education services; maintain and manage School Bus, Van and Monitors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safely and effectively operate a school bus on assigned school or trip-related routes; drive for Y-AIM evenings. Follow and help enforce all city, state, and federal regulations around vehicle operations and the transport of students, members, or participants. Completes thorough pre‑and‑post trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day. Promotes safety by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked. Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed. Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor. Attend all training and in-services around safety, vehicle operations, and staffing. Serve as a mandated reporter within our transportation operations. Ensure the safety of youth on the bus in conjunction with the bus monitor(s) assigned to their vehicles. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School or equivalent. CDL B license with an "S" Endorsement (must remain in good standing and meet all training, physical, and federal requirements as a condition of employment); 7D license accepted if working towards CDL. First Aid, AED, CPR certified. Two (2) years of experience driving School Buses or licensed vans. A satisfactory driving record and ability to demonstrate defensive driving.
