Make a meaningful impact as a Developmental Adaptive Physical Education Teacher by supporting students with diverse needs in achieving their best through movement, activity, and tailored instruction. This contract opportunity takes place in a dynamic and supportive school setting spanning two middle schools. You'll guide students’ physical education experiences, adapting lesson plans and environments to promote participation and individual growth.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Minnesota DAPE (Developmental Adaptive Physical Education) teaching license
- Demonstrated experience as an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher preferred
- Understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to adapt instruction accordingly
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Professionalism, flexibility, and passion for fostering student development
- Ability to provide resume verifying qualifications (required for consideration)
Responsibilities:
- Provide adaptive physical education instruction to students as outlined in their IEPs
- Assess student needs, document progress, and adjust instruction as needed
- Collaborate closely with special education and general education teams
- Develop engaging lesson plans to suit a diverse caseload
- Communicate progress with staff and families in a timely, constructive manner
- Foster a positive, inclusive class environment where all students are able to participate
- Travel between Northdale Middle School and Roosevelt Middle School as needed
- Attend meetings and professional development related to DAPE
This role runs from September 3, 2026 to approximately November 30, 2026, with a full-time schedule (Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week). Serving a varied caseload, you will have the unique opportunity to create a lasting difference in students’ academic journeys through physical activity and adapted instruction.
