As a Senior System Design Engineer, you will help us define, design, and lead the System Design and Technical Specifications for automated driving technologies and AV. In this position, you will have the chance to work at the intersection of System, Architecture, Hardware, Software, and automated driving technology and have a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles. Leads and generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programsPerforms as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least AV/ADAS featureLeads development of software system team design content and software anomaly corrections.Migrates existing tests into automated pipelines in partnership with software teamSupports on-bench and on-vehicle integration issue investigation for AV serial data in SDV2Visibility: at the site/team levelPerforms other related duties as assignedResponsibilitiesLeads and generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programsDesign systems interfaces and requirements, including detailed design development and validation using Protobufs and Feature FilesLead development of software system team design content and software anomaly corrections.Performs complex design analysisSpecifies and balances system requirementsProvide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community.Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one platform or application componentDevelop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/solution specifications with tools such as DNG, Rhapsody, Jira, Jama, GitHub, Confluence and Visual StudioLead FMEA and the allocation of identified failure modes to execution teamsApply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domainsParticipate with cross functional development team (System, SW) discussions to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers in the product execution side of the businessRequirements5 or more years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineeringBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fieldDemonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfacesExperience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.High level of oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sitesComfortable with ambiguity and has a passion to shape the futureStrong technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environmentCreative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitmentPreferred Skills10 or more years of automotive experienceAdvanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fieldExperience with Python, C, C++ or equivalentExperience with automotive simulation (Applied Intuition, Carsim, etc)Experience working on L2+ AV productsPrevious integration experience (sim/vehicle/bench) This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
