Adjunct Faculty, Certified Nursing Aide CTE-CE

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty, Certified Nursing Aide CTE-CE Location: LSC-Kingwood Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Part-Time Job ID: 43658 Commitment to Mission It is the obligation to uphold the Mission of Lone Star College (LSC) in carrying out the duties of the position. Cultural Beliefs One LSC Student Focused Own It Foster Belonging Cultivate Community Choose Learning Purpose & Scope It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and to contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing and teaching courses within the curriculum that facilitate student learning. CE Adjunct faculty are hired on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon system needs. Essential Job Functions Teaches Continuing Education courses in the Certified Nursing Aide Program. Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines. Instructs students in lecture, on‑site laboratory, and off‑site clinical facilities, correlating theory with basic nursing care for residents of long‑term facilities in preparation for the state certification examination. Complies with state requirements established by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and Lone Star College program expectations. Performs ongoing written student evaluations via the Texas Nurse Aide Performance Record, evaluates student comprehension by administering written tests based on lecture and laboratory materials, and provides oral and written feedback. Evaluates students through a variety of means to measure progress toward course objectives and informs them in a timely manner. Submits required college reports and forms. Provides timely, quality access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Is responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned. Willingness to embrace new instructional modalities. Ability to use effective strategies to engage students. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Learning Management Systems. Physical Abilities Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers. Picking, holding, or otherwise working primarily with the whole hand. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or negligible force frequently for moving objects. Ability to push, pull, squat, turn, twist, bend, and stoop. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discrimination in sound. Extending hands and arms in any direction. Expressing or exchanging ideas verbally, including accurate, loud, or quick instruction. Close visual acuity to prepare, analyze data, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Work Schedule & Conditions Equipment: PC workstation on LAN in Microsoft Windows, calculator, phone, and general office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed. Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Hours vary with class time; instructors must meet classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction. Required Qualifications Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, currently licensed in Texas. At least two years of nursing experience. Completed course of teaching adult students, or adult teaching experience, or experience supervising Nurse Aids. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor or Associate degree in Healthcare or a health‑related field. Previous Charge Nurse experience in a long‑term care facility or at least one year providing long‑term care services. Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
