About the Position

Traveler is expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. 1+ year of experience acceptable. Unit has a total of 42 beds. Patient ratios are 1:6 as the goal but may increase to 1:7. Unit staffing includes 8 nurses on call, unit secretaries on days, and 4 techs per shift. Typical med/surg equipment, including EKG, bladder scanner, and vein finder, is utilized. Documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling requires 3 shifts of 12 hours. Staff may float as needed. Med/surg skills are essential. Advanced skills needed include wound care, Foley catheters, and trach care. The unit takes pride in patient disposition and safe discharge. Teamwork is emphasized to get through shifts. The team recently received recognition for patient safety and improved fall rates. Engaged staff ensure a supportive working environment.
