**These positions are available in levels 1-2 based on experience, education, and/or certification and licensure**

General Description:

The Fluoroscopy Tech I performs specialized, real-time imaging using fluoroscopy in invasive and operative environments to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Fluoroscopy or are experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Fluoroscopy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists Providers in performing image-guided procedures using fluoroscopic methods following standardized protocols.
  • Administers contrast safely as needed while following standardized protocols.
  • Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic and/or fluoroscopic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
  • Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care.
  • Prepares patients for procedures, including sterilizing the area, monitoring vital signs and providing comfort.
  • Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols.
  • Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
  • Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
  • Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
  • Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.
  • May provide on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
  • May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Level 1):

Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.

Experience: 0-3 years experience

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire. ARRT(RT) Certification required within 12 months of hire

Minimum Qualifications (Level 2):

Education: Associate's Degree required.

Experience: 3-5 years experience as a Fluoroscopy Tech required.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) and ARRT(RT) Certification required at hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of radiologic technology, medical imaging, positioning of patients and medical ethics.
  • Demonstrates foundational knowledge of fluoroscopy equipment operation, image optimization, and dose reduction strategies.
  • Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology related radiologic technologies associated with imaging specialty credentialed to perform.
  • Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
  • Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
  • Ability to be sensitive to patients' physical and psychological needs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
