Newborn Hearing Screen Technician - Per Diem

Join us in making a difference in the early detection of hearing loss in newborns as a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician! As a newborn hearing screen technician, you will provide hearing screens in the hospital after a baby is born. You will work on‑site at one or more hospital locations to screen newborns for hearing loss. At Pediatrix, you will receive on‑the‑job training, including annual certification accredited by the American Academy of Audiology. Responsibilities Comply with all company and facility policies and procedures; raise any concerns from hospital staff to the HS Manager. Evaluate each patient for “screen readiness” before performing a screen. Collect all necessary data and demographics for each baby; perform the hearing screen and related services on all eligible babies during each shift. Treat each screened baby and family with the care and consideration required at this developmental milestone. Upload all screen results, billing, and state reporting by the end of each shift. Perform all screens efficiently, following the appropriate process to minimize time in the patient room while maintaining quality and patient education. Ensure all relevant information is provided to the responsible party; educate parents/guardians on the necessity of the screen and how to interpret results. Notify the Site Supervisor of all missed and final refer babies. Schedule outpatient appointments for refer babies where appropriate; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Current CPR Certification (or obtain upon offer). Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays. Preferred Experience Entry Level: One to three months of previous experience with newborns and in a medical setting. Skills and Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift). Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently. Demonstrate sensitivity when speaking to family and handling patients. Computer proficiency and ability to perform accurate data entry. Pay The pay for this position ranges from $21.38 to $23.88 per hour and is based on years of relevant experience.
