Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Pediatric Private Duty Home Care (Trach/Vent Experience/ Will Train)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one in-home nursing care for a pediatric patient with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will have experience caring for children with tracheostomies and mechanical ventilators and be committed to delivering high-quality, family-centered care in the home setting.

Schedule

Day Shift: 9:00am - 9:00pm

• 3 Days a week
• Every other Saturday, and Sunday
• 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a pediatric patient in the home environment.
• Monitor and manage respiratory status, including tracheostomy and ventilator care.
• Perform routine tracheostomy care, suctioning, and airway management as needed.
• Administer medications, treatments, and feedings according to physician orders and the plan of care.
• Monitor vital signs and assess changes in the patient's condition.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in patient status.
• Collaborate with family members, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Educate and support family members regarding patient care and safety measures.
• Ensure compliance with all agency policies, state regulations, and nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
• Previous pediatric home health experience preferred.
• Required experience with:
• Tracheostomy care
• Mechanical ventilator management
• Airway suctioning
• Pediatric respiratory care
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently in a home care setting.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, and position pediatric patients as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform patient care duties throughout a 12-hour shift.

Preferred Skills

• Pediatric private duty nursing experience.
• Experience with gastrostomy tube (G-tube) care and feedings.
• Experience managing medically fragile children.
