Medical Assistant - UI Health Care Scott Blvd Clinics 100%

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 100% (40 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC Scott Blvd Family Medicine Clinic . This position will mainly support our Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Quick Cares, and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

Summary:

Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.

Duties to include:

• Staff will support our Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry Clinic patients.
• Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
• Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
• Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours Monday - Thursday between 8:00 am - 8:30 pm and Fridays from 8:00 - 5:00. No weekends, on call time, or holidays required.

Location: Iowa City, IA. (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Pay Grade: 9

Salary: $40,903.92 - $60,760.80 (at 100% time)/ Hourly: $19.59 - $29.10 (based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualification/License:

• Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
• Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Highly Desired Requirements

• Previous EPIC experience
• Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience

Desirable Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate teamwork, collaboration, and autonomy in all aspects of the role
• Previous phlebotomy experience
• Previous immunization experience

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position
