Low Voltage / Telecom Field Technician — 1099 Independent Contractor

Land and Sea Electronics is an AVIT field services company servicing major financial institutions nationwide. We are looking for experienced low voltage technicians to join our growing team of independent contractors for ongoing work at bank branch locations.

What You'll Do

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6), fiber optics, and network equipment at commercial sites
• Service ATM routers, ONTs, PoE switches/injectors, access points, and related telecom infrastructure
• Perform site surveys, cable pulls, terminations, testing, and labeling per industry standards
• Document work performed, materials used, and travel for each ticket
• Respond to dispatch requests via SMS and self-manage your schedule within assigned regions

What We're Looking For

• 3+ months of hands-on experience in low voltage, structured cabling, or telecom installation and service
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and floor plans
• Own tools (Cable tester, 10 in 1, snips, etc)
• Willingness to travel to job sites within your region (mileage is compensated)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently at client sites
• Professional appearance and demeanor — you'll be working inside bank branches during business hours
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and obtain a client-issued site access badge

Compensation & Structure

• 1099 Independent Contractor — this is not a W-2 employee position
• Competitive per-hour pay based on time starting $40/hr standard time, $60/hr overtime rates for evenings/weekends) Possible raise to $45/$70 or $50/$75
• Mileage reimbursement for travel to job sites
• Materials reimbursement for job-related purchases

Onboarding Process

• Initial phone screening and skills verification
• Fingerprint submission for client background check
• Badge issuance upon clearance (typically 1–2 weeks)
• First ticket assignment once badged
