Server Position at Denny'sListed wages are based on company-wide ranges. Actual earnings will vary based on factors such as: restaurant brand, experience, education, geography, applicable minimum wage, unit volume(s), hours worked & potential overtime pay.The Server is responsible for providing friendly, attentive, and efficient table service to guests in a full-service restaurant environment. This role delivers a positive guest experience by accurately taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest needs are met throughout the dining experience in accordance with Denny's brand standards.Guest Service & HospitalityGreet guests promptly and courteously.Present menus, explain menu items, and answer guest questions.Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system.Deliver food and beverages in a timely and professional manner.Check back with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve issues promptly.Thank guests and invite them to return.Order Accuracy & Service ExecutionEnsure orders are prepared and delivered accurately.Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure proper timing and order flow.Monitor table needs, including refills, condiments, and additional requests.Process guest payments accurately and securely.Restaurant OperationsMaintain clean and organized tables, dining areas, and service stations.Complete assigned side work duties such as restocking supplies, cleaning, and setup.Follow cash handling and payment processing procedures.Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and service standards.Perform cleaning tasks including, but not limited to, clearing and sanitizing tables, sweeping and mopping floors, restocking service areas, removing trash, cleaning restrooms as assigned, and any other cleaning or side work tasks assigned by management.Teamwork & ProfessionalismWork collaboratively with other servers, hosts, cooks, and management.Support team members during busy periods.Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.Follow direction from managers and shift leaders.Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentPhysical ActivityStanding and walking for extended periods.Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and grasping.Carrying trays, plates, and beverages.Writing orders and operating POS systems.Communicating with guests, kitchen staff, and management.Physical RequirementsStanding and walking for the majority of the work shift.Lifting and carrying ranges:0–10 lbs: Frequent11–25 lbs: Frequent26–50 lbs: Occasional with assistance51–75 lbs: Seldom; team-lift onlyCarrying trays and dishes weighing up to approximately 25 lbs.Frequent use of hands for handling plates, glassware, and POS input.Work EnvironmentWork performed in a full-service restaurant dining and service environment.Exposure to noise, crowds, hot food items, wet or slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals.Variable schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.Cognitive Demands (ADA/FEHA-Compliant)Ability to follow service procedures and instructions.Ability to manage multiple tables and tasks simultaneously.Ability to maintain attention to detail and order accuracy.Ability to provide courteous service in a fast-paced environment.Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.RequirementsPrevious serving or customer service experience preferred but not required.Strong guest service and communication skills.Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.This document describes the job and its traditional physical, cognitive, and environmental demands.
