AM Dishwasher

Job Summary The dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and related equipment using both machine and manual cleaning methods. This position maintains kitchen, work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition, places clean items in storage, and prepares and packages individual place settings. Responsibilities Load, run, and unload the dish machine ensuring all items are cleaned at proper sanitation temperatures. Manually wash pots, pans, trays, and other utensils that cannot be handled by the machine. Sort and rinse dirty dishes and utensils, then place them in racks for the machine. Sort and stack clean, dry dishes, and transport them to the cook’s line or storage areas. Change dishwater in the machine every hour and monitor temperatures throughout the shift. Fill and empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions. Sweep, scrub, and mop floors; clean the dish pit and garbage cans. Notify a manager if any wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures. Monitor and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately. Clean and scrub walls and various food preparation areas. Maintain a safe work environment by keeping service and cooking equipment clean and ready for use. Stock supplies such as food and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars. Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand. Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pick‑up areas. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 0–1year of experience in a full‑service kitchen environment. Good communication skills and sense of urgency. Ability to move safely throughout the café and kitchen. Professional appearance and understanding of kitchen equipment usage. Must possess and maintain an active Handlers’ Card (ServSafe) and comply with local food handler requirements. Strong punctuality and attendance record; consistently perform duties responsibly and efficiently. Benefits Monday to Friday: 6:30am – 3:00pm, no weekends. Snacks and meals provided during shifts. Requires frequent movement, lifting (up to 30lb routinely, 30–40lb occasionally, >40lb two‑person lift), bending, twisting, and standing. Must maintain good vision and balance. Physical Demands Constant use of hands to load and unload the washer; frequent stacking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Tasks include lifting up to 30lb routinely, up to 40lb occasionally, and over 40lb by two people. Standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and kneeling are common.
