The Role As a Registered Nurse in UVA Health’s Pediatric Emergency Department, your day is dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply impactful. You will care for pediatric patients across a wide range of acuity levels in a setting specifically designed to support specialized pediatric emergency care separate from the adult environment. On a Typical Shift, You Will Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients under 21, including triage, assessment, intervention, and evaluation Collaborate closely with pediatric emergency physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams Respond to high-acuity and time-sensitive conditions, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and rapid decision-making Provide family-centered care, engaging and educating caregivers during stressful and often emotional situations Administer medications, initiate protocols, and support procedures with a strong emphasis on safety and pediatric-specific best practices Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence, leveraging UVA Health’s academic environment This is a role defined by both clinical complexity and meaningful connection , where every interaction has the potential to make a lasting difference. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience. Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
