Enterprise Platforms Technology ( EPTech ) comprises many of Capital Ones most important enterprise platforms. We establish practices for building technology solutions across the company and deliver capabilities that exemplify those practices.

As a Director TPM in EPTech you will leverage your technical acumen and engineering experience to drive the strategy and execution of large-scale technically complex cross-functional programs aligned with Capital Ones business priorities. Youll break down complexity and organizational silos influence roadmaps dive deep into system design and architecture make technical tradeoffs drive platform consolidation and identify resolve define and escalate mitigation plans for hard technical dependencies.

What Youll Do:

As a Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) were looking for someone that can help us lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products & platforms that will help Capital One customers have incredible experiences.

In addition to the technical program you will also work to pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team by leveraging your industry knowledge and experience to teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve.

• Contribute to the organizations TPM / Delivery strategy: establish operating mechanisms maturity models and tooling that scale across portfolios
• Drive development of and alignment on program roadmap anchored in business objectives definition of done technical solutions and sequencing of dependencies
• Lead cross-platform technical investment planning and ensure architectural alignment toward long-term platform convergence and reuse
• Serve as an executive-level escalation point for program risks influencing technology leaders to make data-driven tradeoffs between speed cost and resiliency
• Ensure definition of measurable outcomes of platform success (availability scalability cost efficiency developer velocity) and ensure delivery accountability across multiple engineering teams

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a technical field
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7 years of experience designing and building solutions using distributed computing or service oriented architecture (SOA)
• 3 years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS
• 3 years experience building highly scalable products & platforms
• 3 years of experience with Agile delivery
• 3 years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you contribute to the business or technical vision collaborate with large cross-functional teams secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact
• Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
• MBA or Masters Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science Software Engineering)
• PMP Lean Agile or Six Sigma certification
• 3 years of people management experience or influencing organization as an IC
• Experience driving platform standardization across multiple product portfolios or lines of business
• Track record of building TPM maturity (operating models career frameworks metrics) at scale within engineering organizations
• Exceptional communication and influence skills capable of engaging deeply with technical teams while translating implications into compelling business narratives that persuade senior leadership

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York NY: $251400 - $286900 for Director Technical Program Management

Plano TX: $209500 - $239100 for Director Technical Program Management

Richmond VA: $209500 - $239100 for Director Technical Program Management

San Francisco CA: $251400 - $286900 for Director Technical Program Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
