This contract position is perfect for an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired who is passionate about empowering students in their academic and personal growth. Located near Newnan, GA, the role provides a dynamic setting to utilize your specialized skills, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility for Georgia certification
- Solid understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in school settings
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation abilities
- Capability to effectively collaborate with administrators, staff, families, and outside agencies
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in core academics, Braille literacy, and assistive technology
- Support students' independence and social-emotional skills through tailored resources and strategies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to adapt curriculum materials and environments
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust instructional plans as needed
- Offer training and consultation to staff and families on best practices for supporting students who are visually impaired
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding special education services
