About the Position

Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Tech Specialty: Ultrasound Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: NOC Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: 4 years minimum experience License: RDMS or ARRT, BLS (AHA Only) Certifications: ARDMS-RVT or extensive vascular experience Description: The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures under the general supervision of a physician. The technologist operates in an ambulatory or hospital environment as requested for the diagnosis of disease and injury. High-quality ultrasound procedures are performed according to exam protocols in a timely manner. Production and quality of imaging procedures are maintained by following established standards and protocols. Effective communication with patients is prioritized to identify requirements and ensure the correct exam is performed. Patients and their families are instructed on the tests to be performed, and the patient's ability to tolerate the exam is assessed. The preparation of patients and the procedure area includes positioning patients and adjusting equipment controls. Safety requirements and infection-control policies are adhered to in order to protect patients and team members. Proper sterile techniques are used in invasive multimodality procedures, maintaining hand hygiene. Equipment and work areas are maintained to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Collaboration with engineers and physicists ensures optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Issues with equipment are reported to management or the appropriate department when necessary. Supply inventory is assisted in maintaining. Individuals entering the department are screened according to approved policies and procedures for safety. All relevant documentation is obtained, verified, and maintained according to protocols. Imaging team members adhere to policies, procedures, and workflows in the department. Medical imaging records are maintained in the appropriate systems for timely interpretation. A successful Ultrasound Technologist demonstrates the ability to perform procedures independently. Calm and helpful attitudes are maintained even during stressful situations. Customer satisfaction is ensured through limited wait times and courteous service. Knowledge and skills appropriate for various age groups are continuously updated. Training quality is provided to new team members and on new services and initiatives as needed.
