Actuarial Consultant - Reserving (Work Comp/Commercial Auto)

Consider joining the Actuarial Reserving team at CNA as an Actuarial Consultant. You will assist in developing actuarial reserve strategies for Workers Compensation and Commercial Auto, collaborate with business partners and Actuarial leaders, provide actuarial analysis to influence reserving decisions, and participate in our Actuarial Education Program if still sitting for exams. Work Schedule This position works a hybrid schedule from a CNA Actuarial Hub Location including Chicago, IL; Radnor, PA; Warren, NJ; New York City, NY and Walnut Creek, CA. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with business partners and functional subject matter experts, providing actuarial input as needed. Partner with peers, business partners and leaders to support a specific segment's strategy through actionable insights and analytics. Provide support in determining pricing and reserving strategy for an assigned area. Create and modify existing tools and analytics as needed. Proactively monitor profitability, reserving and claim trends for Workers Compensation and Commercial Auto and share results with actuarial leaders and peers. Support less experienced team members and help manage projects as needed. Stay up to date in actuarial expertise and industry trends and development. Produce standard and special reports as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting Relationship Director or above. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance, actuarial and statistical concepts. Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners, sometimes influencing decisions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve moderately complex situations and issues. Demonstrates attention to detail. Ability to make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority. Ability to work independently and as a team, and manage multiple moderately complex projects. Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports. Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent. Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience. Typically at least three to five successfully completed CAS exams (may include those with an Associateship). Salary In Illinois, California and New York, the average base pay range for an Actuarial Consultant is 100000 to 142000. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is 54000 to 103000 annually.
