Social Worker

Overview Position Title: Social Worker Position Purpose The School Social Worker supports student academic success, attendance, mental health, behavior, family engagement, and overall well-being by addressing social, emotional, environmental, and economic barriers to learning. The Social Worker serves as a liaison between home, school, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, increase attendance, support positive behavior, and ensure access to appropriate services and resources. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Provide support and interventions for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, attendance, or family-related challenges. Conduct assessments and gather information regarding factors impacting student success and educational performance. Identify and support students requiring interventions related to attendance, mental health, behavior, homelessness, crisis situations, or other barriers to learning. Collaborate with school teams to implement and monitor interventions through MTSS, SST, Section 504, IEP, and other student support processes. Develop strategies to improve student engagement, attendance, behavior, and academic success. Monitor and address chronic absenteeism and attendance concerns in accordance with district procedures and Georgia law. Conduct home visits and collaborate with families to identify and reduce barriers affecting student success. Support district attendance initiatives, prevention efforts, and intervention plans. Serve as a liaison between families, schools, and community agencies to coordinate services and strengthen support systems. Respond to student crises involving safety concerns, trauma, abuse, neglect, homelessness, grief, or mental health emergencies. Assist schools with crisis response planning and recovery efforts following critical incidents. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, nurses, psychologists, and outside agencies regarding student needs and services. Refer students and families to appropriate community resources and support programs. Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and agencies supporting students and families. Maintain accurate records, reports, case notes, and documentation in accordance with district procedures and legal requirements. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504, McKinney-Vento, attendance laws, and other applicable regulations. Participate in required professional learning and maintain appropriate certification/licensure requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by administration. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of child development, family systems, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral interventions Knowledge of Georgia attendance law, compulsory attendance requirements, and student support frameworks Knowledge of MTSS, Section 504, IDEA, McKinney-Vento, FERPA, and related regulations Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community agencies Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and maintain confidentiality Strong communication, conflict resolution, organization, and documentation skills Ability to analyze data and develop intervention plans Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Work is performed in school settings, offices, homes, and community environments. Position requires sitting, standing, walking, driving, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds. Position may involve responding to crisis situations and exposure to emotionally difficult circumstances. Qualifications Required Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution Eligible for or hold Georgia certification/licensure required for School Social Workers Experience working with children, families, schools, or community agencies Valid Georgia driver's license Preferred Previous experience as a School Social Worker Knowledge of Georgia school systems, attendance law, MTSS, Section 504, and IDEA procedures Experience with crisis intervention, mental health support, or community-based services FLSA Status Exempt #J-18808-Ljbffr Lee County School System
