We are seeking a compassionate, engaging, and organized individual to join our Arkansas CARES program to provide Family Centered Treatment-Recovery services. Family Centered Treatment-Recovery (FCT-R) offers intensive, home-based, trauma-informed treatment tailored to families affected by substance use. It addresses the underlying causes of substance use and its impact on family stability, attachment, and safety, including the need for out-of- home placement. By strengthening family bonds, FCT-R promotes healing and long-term recovery, addressing the unique and complex needs of its target population, particularly those struggling with substance use disorders (SUD). 

Primary Responsibilities:  

• FCT-R Practitioner must complete an intensive training program and work with some of the most challenging and complex client systems. FCT Practitioners are required to work with the entire family system and address problematic Areas of Family Functioning as outlined in the FCT Model. 

• FCT-R services include both direct face-to-face and indirect contacts, and collaboration with the systems supporting the members and their family. However, most contacts are direct, either with the individual or other family members. The service intensity varies over the course of treatment and is increased or decreased based on the family’s needs. However, families are receiving a minimum of two multi-hour treatment sessions per week. The intent of the last treatment phase is to validate that the interventions have been effective and that outcomes are likely to be able to be maintained upon service discharge. 

FCT-R Staff will also provide the following therapeutic services: 

• FCT-R Screening/Join Up Meeting 
• FCT-R Initial Recovery Assessment  
• Referral/Screening Tool 
• Crisis intake 
• Assessment of needs through the comprehensive Family Centered Evaluation Process 
• FCT/FCT-R Interventions 

• Monitoring family/parental progress 

• 24/7 crisis response 
• After-care linkage and follow up 
• Development of short and long-term family goals with measurable outcomes. 
• Attend, participate, and facilitate Child & Family Team Meetings 
• Attend weekly (more or less depending on the Practitioner’s developmental needs, case complexity, etc.) case review supervision. 
• Provide thorough documentation including treatment plans, FCT fidelity documentation, progress notes, monthly reports and assessments. 
• Testify in court as subpoenaed or requested. 

• Administered drug screens  

• The FCT-R Practitioner will provide Family Centered Treatment -Recovery to families and guide them through the four phases of treatment in a timely manner. 
• The FCT-R Practitioner will provide FCT-R to fidelity in terms of both meeting the intensity of the service delivery as well as completing the documentation required in each of the four phases 
• The FCT-R Practitioner will complete and maintain all program fidelity documents in a timely manner. 
• Family Centered Treatment-Recovery is a comprehensive treatment program that requires FCT-R Practitioners to make at a minimum two multi-hour face-to-face sessions per week with each family system with the exception of titration at discharge. 
• Each FCT-R Practitioner will maintain a case load of an average of five to six, FCT-R-referred families. 
• A FCT-R Practitioner works a schedule that is flexible and able to meet the needs of each family they serve. This will often require meeting in the evenings and on the weekend. 
• The FCT-R Practitioner is a member of a team that meets weekly. Participation in team meetings are mandatory and require the FCT Practitioner to serve as facilitator and recorder on a rotating basis. 
• The FCT-R Practitioner will present cases to the team using the MIGS format on a rotating basis. 
• May assist with training as requested by management. 
• May assist/complete other projects/duties as requested by management. 

*Required Training for the Provision of FCT-R Services: 

• The FCT-R Practitioner will complete the Wheels of Change online training course within 6 

weeks of hire 

• In addition to the online-based training and required readings, the certification process  

requires Field Certification: the videotaped or observed demonstration of competencies in the field with real clients. 

• FCT staff should be fully FCT Certified (completed the online training program and field-based competencies) within 6-9 months of hire. Any FCT staff not certified within 12 months of hire risks their employment being terminated. 
• Once certified, the FCT Practitioner will complete all activities necessary to maintain certification from FCTF including recertification every two years. 
• Complete other training requirements as outlined in the FCT Training Plan or as directed by the Supervisor, Trainer, or Director of Training 
• Practitioners must complete all FCT-R training requirements prescribed by the FCT Foundation for the provision of FCR-R including completing the E-learning components, checkoffs in the 12 FCT-R core skills, and participating in the FCT-R skill lab 

*Training time and expense is provided by Methodist Family Health 

Qualifications: 

• FCT-R Practitioners will be credentialed as a Qualified Professional 

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience with the population served or master’s degree with a minimum of 1 year experience with the population served; 

• FCT Practitioners must be fully certified in FCT within twelve months of their initial hire via the official FCT certification program, Wheels of Change©.  Certification is granted through the Family Centered Treatment Foundation (FCT Foundation) when staff pass and show competence in required components. 

• All staff must demonstrate field-based competency in 16 core skills related to the FCT model to complete the full FCT certification process.  These field-based competencies are completed during direct observations of the Qualified Professional’s sessions with clients by a certified FCT Trainer; 

• Practitioners must complete all FCT-R training requirements prescribed by the FCT Foundation for the provision of FCR-R including completing the E-learning components, checkoffs in the 12 FCT-R core skills, and participating in the FCT-R skill labs; 

• Practitioners must be recertified in FCT/FCT-R every 2 years.  

• Practitioners must also register as a Counselor In Training (CIT) and participate in supervision by a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) complete the required supervision hours and pass the CADC exam or already be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).  

• Ability to engage and build rapport with clients. 

• Knowledge of community resources. 

• Knowledge of child & adult development. 

• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. 

• Ability to make judgment calls and quick decisions in crisis situations. 

• Strong oral and written communications. 

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently. 

• The successful candidate will regularly demonstrate an ability to meet training and paperwork deadlines. 

• The FCT Practitioner must demonstrate the ability and willingness to accept feedback and adapt their own behavior in response to feedback. 

• A FCT Practitioner must be comfortable with learning to use teleconferencing hardware and software enough to participate in meetings and supervisions with other staff or FCTF personnel. 

• Intermediate or advanced knowledge of computer word processing. 

• Ability to work flexible hours, carry and respond to a company cell phone daily, and travel as necessary. 

• Ability to work well in a team environment required. 

• Ability to conceptualize, organize, create and follow through with assigned projects required. 

• Must possess/obtain current CPR and First Aid certification 

• Possess an understanding of the rules of confidentiality 

Additional Mandatory Requirements: 

• Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions 

• Remains current in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, CPR & First Aid 

• Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health, regardless of gender 

• Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability 

• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls 

• Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment. 

• Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items 

• Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms. 

• Flu vaccination is mandatory and required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions). 

Other:  The individual employed in this position may accept other reasonable assignments, which 

may be necessary, for efficient operation of assigned programs as there is time and opportunity.
