Assistant Superintendent - Rocky Point Golf Course Regular Full-Time Rocky Point Golf Maintenance, Essex, MD, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1492 Salary Range: $46,000.00 To $55,000.00 Annually Rocky Point Golf Course is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent! Rocky Point is part of a 5 golf course system operated by the Baltimore County Revenue Authority. Opened in 1971, Russell Roberts skillfully created Rocky Point to be a challenging yet fair test of golf. Preserved natural wetlands meander through this picturesque setting, offering some of the prettiest views in all of golf in the Baltimore area. While the length at Rocky Point is only 6,650 yards; architect Roberts added some deception and difficulty to the golf course. Rocky Point, with its many elevation changes, plays longer than its posted yardage. Par at Rocky Point is set at 72, with a fairly open front nine and a back nine that is more tree lined and high-lighted by the three par 5’s. Greens are large and inviting with strategically placed bunkers. Position Summary Assists in the management and administration of golf course grounds maintenance and improvement activities. Assists with Management of staff of full-time and seasonal grounds labor employees, provides training and assigns tasks. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence. Essential Functions / Responsibilities Golf Course Maintenance: Assists in the planning and supervising of the daily maintenance operation; supervises/completes pesticide and fertilizer applications including calibration of equipment; coordinates with the mechanic on equipment condition and availability; supervises/operates automatic irrigation system; troubleshoots problems and schedules repairs and maintenance; observes course conditions and makes recommendations for improvements or implements immediate action to correct observed problems. Personnel Management: Instructs and trains equipment operators on the proper use and care of equipment; assists in personnel management and evaluation, administration of department policies and procedures, employee discipline and modifies daily schedule based on professional interpretation of priorities. Budget Administration: Assists in budget preparation, administration and purchasing. Business Communication: Refers to all professional relationships: supervisors, peers, golf professional and staff, customers. Works with golf professional staff to achieve facility goals. Capital Improvement: Assists in project development and management during construction. Educational Requirements Associates Degree in Turfgrass Management or related field from an accredited program or demonstrated progression towards completion in such a program. Previous Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Specific Skills/Abilities Supervisory skills, computer skills, climbing, kneeling, bending, stooping, balancing, reaching, and heavy lifting. Specialized Knowledge / Licenses / Etc. Must possess or obtain a Maryland Public Agency Pesticide Applicator’s license in at least category III-C (Turf) within six months of employment and keep license active while employed. Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass maintenance for golf courses; basic construction techniques; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, amendments, herbicides, growth regulators, fungicides and insecticides; drainage and irrigation operation. Valid Driver’s License Special Requirements Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
