Director of Finance

Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm / Direct Hire

Our client, a growing nonprofit, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, compliance, and relationships with external finance partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day financial operations and accounting activities
• Oversee the monthly close process and preparation of financial reports
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Coordinate the annual audit and work with external auditors
• Oversee grants, restricted funds, and related financial reporting
• Manage payroll and financial compliance
• Oversee relationships with outsourced finance and accounting partners
• Develop, improve, and maintain financial processes, systems, and internal controls
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to organizational leadership
• Provide hands-on support across accounting and finance as needed
• Serve as the operational leader of the finance function

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong nonprofit financial management experience
• Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience managing grants and restricted funds
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and financial compliance
• Experience coordinating audits and working with external accounting partners
• Strong organizational and process-management skills
• Hands-on approach with the ability to both manage and execute
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
