RN Nurse Residency

Are you a new RN looking for support in your first year of nursing? ChildServe’s RN Nurse Residency program is a great way to build confidence in both your clinical and professional skills. In addition to the residency experience, you’ll work full time within one of our inpatient settings, Pediatric/Adolescent Complex Medical units, Pediatric Rehabilitation unit, or our Medical Group Home. To learn more: Nursing at ChildServe - ChildServe Program Overview Online lectures and discussions through University of Iowa’s nurse residency program Months 1 – 6: focus on communication, responsibilities of a professional nurse and decision making at the point of care. Months 7 – 12: engage in a Professionalism in Action Experience at ChildServe Monthly check-ins with ChildServe Clinical Educator to support your development. Hands-on practice performing pediatric sub-specialty clinical skills. Attainment of CEUs Schedule / Benefits 3 12 hours shifts per week, days or nights shifts available, rotating weekends and holidays Benefit eligible, including medical, dental, vision plans, retirement with company match, and generous PTO accrual, including 16 hours of PTO front-loaded How You’ll Make an Impact Within the nursing scope of practice, physician’s orders, and the care plan, make decisions and deliver a full range of nursing care based on the fundamentals of the nursing process. Maintain accurate, completed, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures. Communicate effectively, respectfully, and professionally with residents, physicians, families, school personnel, ChildServe staff, and others to assure assigned child’s care needs are assessed, communicated, and met. Provide training to patients, families, and staff as needed to help advance the skills and knowledge of all people associated with a child’s care delivery. Demonstrate good stewardship of ChildServe equipment, supplies, and environment. What You’ll Need One year or less of RN experience Current valid license as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Applicants planning to attain a RN license in the next 6 months are welcome to apply. Documentation of current Basic Life Support certification Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
