This position is for a lower acuity ICU. The unit manages general ICU cases, strokes, COVID-19 patients, medical and surgical cases, as well as behavioral health issues and overdoses. Patient care includes those post-cardiac arrest and on ventilators. Patient ratios are 1:2-3 based on acuity, for both days and nights. Support on the unit includes a CNA with a ratio of 1:7. There is no Health Unit Coordinator in the ICU. The charge nurse will take a patient assignment. Phlebotomy support is available for peripheral blood draws. An IV/VAT team is present during day shifts on specific weekdays. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalists are available 24/7 for patient care. An ICU educator is on staff. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy services are available on weekdays and with variability on weekends. Intensivists are on duty from 0600 to 1800, with eICU support from 1800 to 0600. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system. Staff will need to be comfortable floating to the Cardiac unit. Scheduling typically includes a weekend rotation every other week. Time off approvals can be granted for up to 7 days. On-call requirements vary based on unit needs. Holiday expectations also vary according to unit needs. Scrub color should be professional.
