Low Voltage / Fiber Technician

We are seeking Low Voltage Fiber Technicians and Apprentices to support fiber optic installation projects throughout Connecticut. This position offers long-term work supporting residential, commercial, and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) fiber deployments.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with fiber optic cabling, structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, or other low-voltage systems. Candidates with backgrounds in security, access control, fire alarm, or network cabling are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills & Experience

Level 1 Technician:

  • Active Connecticut T2 Low Voltage License
  • Experience installing and testing low-voltage or fiber optic cabling
  • Experience working with Cat5e, Cat6, or fiber optic infrastructure
  • Ability to read basic drawings and follow installation standards
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Apprentice Technician:

  • Enrolled in or eligible for a Connecticut low-voltage apprenticeship program
  • Interest in telecommunications, fiber optics, or structured cabling
  • Ability to work in construction and field environments
  • Willingness to learn installation and testing procedures

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Fiber optic installation experience
  • Fiber termination, splicing, or testing experience
  • Structured cabling experience
  • Security, access control, or fire alarm installation experience
  • Experience working in residential, commercial, or MDU environments
  • Ladder and lift experience

What You Will Be Doing

  • Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling
  • Perform structured cabling installations and terminations
  • Support fiber testing and troubleshooting activities
  • Install telecommunications and low-voltage infrastructure
  • Follow project drawings, specifications, and safety requirements
  • Complete quality installations while maintaining project schedules
  • Work closely with project managers, leads, and field teams

Daily Responsibilities

  • Pull and install fiber optic and low-voltage cabling
  • Terminate and test installed systems
  • Support new construction and retrofit projects
  • Document completed work and testing results
  • Maintain tools, materials, and job site safety
  • Travel to project sites throughout the assigned market
