Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1, caring for trauma, neurosurgical, medical, and cardiac ICU populations
• Titrate a wide range of vasoactive, sedation, and analgesic drips including propofol, levophed, vasopressin, fentanyl, precedex, insulin, heparin, and others
• Independently interpret cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment; no monitor technicians are present on the unit
• Operate and manage respiratory therapy equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPAP, and Airvo ventilators in coordination with 24/7 on-site RT staff
• Float between sister ICU units (Surgical ICU, Medical/Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU) as needed, as well as to telemetry at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio
• Participate in self-scheduling while meeting weekend requirements of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with a minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience required — no exceptions
• At least 2 of the 3 required years must be in an ICU setting; experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular ICU
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Must successfully complete a UNA Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance (maximum of 2 attempts allowed, completed within 24–48 hours of offer)
• Must pass a pass/fail Simulation Lab assessment on Day 1 of orientation
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and independently interpret cardiac rhythm strips

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or dedicated neuro ICU environment
• Experience in a similarly sized high-acuity ICU unit
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac interventions such as IABP, Impella, ECMO, TAVR, or CRRT
