Emergency Medicine Physician

Locums - Altoona, Pennsylvania - Emergency Medicine Physician Job

Clinical Role:

• Locum tenens opportunity for a board certified or truly board eligible emergency medicine physician
• Must have completed an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency
• Candidates must be willing to work nights, swing shifts, and weekends
• Please include in presentation that provider is willing to work nights and weekends
• Minimum of 2 years emergency medicine experience outside of residency required
• Must be stroke certified
• Expected need: approximately 5 shifts per month

Shift Information:

• 12-hour shifts
• Must be willing to work any needed shift:
  • 6a-4p
  • 8a-6p
  • 11a-9p
  • 1p-11p
  • 3p-1a
  • 5p-3a
  • 9p-7a
• May occasionally be asked to work mid-level shift times if coverage is needed

Facility Details:

• Coverage at two facilities approximately 40 minutes apart
• Combined annual ED volume: approximately 45,000
• Average daily volume: approximately 137 patients
• No vent management
• Work alongside APP coverage and provide APP sign-offs
• Admissions coordinated through hospitalist and specialty groups
• EMR: Cerner

Procedures Include:

• Intubation
• Chest tubes
• Central lines
• Joint/fracture reductions
• Joint aspirations
• Laceration repair
• Incision and drainage (I&D)
• Additional procedures within EM-trained scope

Requirements:

• Board certified or truly board eligible in Emergency Medicine or Osteopathic Emergency Medicine
• Stroke certification required
• Must have completed Emergency Medicine residency training
• Active Pennsylvania license preferred
