Computer Science Teacher

Job Duties The Computer Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching high school-level computer science courses, including AP Computer Science Principles and Computing Ideas. The teacher will demonstrate subject matter expertise and instructional experience through developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum aligned with state and national standards for secondary education. Primary duties include the following: Teach AP Computer Science Principles, an introductory college-level computing course covering programming and algorithm development, data analysis and computing system fundamentals, computing innovations and their societal impacts, and ethical and collaborative computing practices. Teach Computing Ideas, an introductory computer science course covering fundamentals of block-based and text-based programming, web design and digital information representation, internet data transmission, and development of a student portfolio website. Design and implement rigorous curricula and instructional activities that meet or exceed academic standards. Analyze student performance data to drive academic outcomes, adapt instruction for targeted improvement. Create formative and summative assessments aligned to learning objectives, and use assessment data to inform and refine instructional practices. Develop positive relationships with students and parents to build investment in academic and school culture. Collaborate with fellow teachers to maintain consistent instructional structures across grade levels. Participate in professional development, collaborative planning, school-wide functions, and curriculum development.
