We are seeking a seasoned, highly experienced Neurosurgeon with expertise in neuro-oncology to provide locum tenens coverage in collaboration with an established Neurosurgical program in Tampa, Florida. The physician will focus on managing and performing complex neuro-oncology surgical cases while partnering closely with the current Neurosurgeon to support patient care needs. This opportunity is designed for a provider with extensive experience in brain and spinal tumor surgery who is comfortable working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Assignment Details:

• On-site approximately 12 days per week
• Primarily on-site for complex surgical cases
• Flexible weekday scheduling
• Consistent weekly availability preferred
• Virtual pre-operative case reviews required
• Virtual care coordination as needed
• Immediate post-operative consultation preferred
• Post-operative consultation typically by postoperative day two

• Collaboration with an established Neurosurgical program

Clinical Details & Responsibilities:

• Practice Setting: Hospital Neurosurgical Program Operating Room
• Virtual/Telehealth
• Clinical Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the existing Neurosurgeon
• Evaluate complex neuro-oncology surgical cases
• Perform complex neuro-oncology surgeries
• Provide expertise in the surgical management of brain tumors
• Provide expertise in the surgical management of spinal tumors
• Participate in pre-operative case reviews
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions
• Assist with surgical planning
• Participate in telehealth conferences
• Provide virtual consultative support
• Provide post-operative consultation as needed
• Participate in follow-up care when appropriate
• Support continuity of care for neuro-oncology patients
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams

Neuro-Oncology Focus:

• The physician will focus on high-acuity neuro-oncology surgical care, including complex brain and spinal tumor cases. The position provides an opportunity to concentrate on complex surgical cases without routine practice management responsibilities.
• Surgical Responsibilities:
• Complex brain tumor surgery
• Complex spinal tumor surgery
• Surgical management of neuro-oncology patients
• Pre-operative surgical planning
• Multidisciplinary case review
• Post-operative consultation
• Surgical follow-up as needed

Telehealth & Case Review:

• The provider will participate in virtual pre-operative case reviews and multidisciplinary discussions. Availability for virtual case review and care coordination is required.
• Post-Operative Care:
• Immediate post-operative consultation is preferred, typically by postoperative day two.
• The provider will support continuity of care through post-operative consultation and follow-up as needed.
• Call Responsibilities:
• Call Type: No call requirement
• There is no routine call requirement for this assignment.
• Clinic Responsibilities:
• There is no routine clinic requirement.
• Participation in select patient visits may be requested when beneficial for surgical planning and case preparation.
• Support & Team:
• The provider will work closely with the current Neurosurgeon and an established multidisciplinary Neurosurgical program.
• The position requires strong collaboration and the ability to provide consultative support both in person and virtually.

Requirements:

• Board Certified Neurosurgery Required
• Active FL License
• BLS Required
• Extensive experience managing complex neuro-oncology cases Required
• Extensive experience performing complex neuro-oncology surgery Required
• Demonstrated expertise in brain tumor surgery Required
• Demonstrated expertise in spinal tumor surgery Required
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to provide consultative support in person and virtually
• Availability for virtual pre-operative case reviews
• Consistent weekly availability preferred
• IMLC welcome

Credentialing:

• Board Certification in Neurosurgery is required. IMLC physicians are welcome.
