Position Title: CA-7 Cross-Platform Analyst Job Class: Information Technology Specialist 2 Agency: Minnesota IT Services Location: St. Paul Schedule: Full‑time, Day Shift, Monday–Friday Salary: $28.18 – $45.82 per hour; $58,839 – $95,672 per year Telework: Telework eligible for Minnesota or bordering state residents within 50 miles of work location with supervisory approval. Job Summary Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) seeks a CA-7 Cross‑Platform Analyst to join our Production Control team. The role ensures reliable, efficient batch processing that supports critical state agency operations by monitoring and maintaining batch schedules across mainframe and distributed systems, troubleshooting and resolving processing issues, and collaborating with technical staff and agency partners to meet daily production needs. The analyst will also develop and update job flows, document procedures, maintain system accuracy, and support disaster recovery activities. Responsibilities Monitor and maintain batch schedules on CA‑7, including updating, modifying, and troubleshooting job streams. Interpret, update, and validate IBM JCL and other batch job instructions. Diagnose and resolve batch job failures, including job restarts and incident ticket creation. Support Application Manager (APPWORX) or similar distributed scheduling tools. Develop or maintain batch job flows, dependencies, and documentation. Communicate clearly and effectively to facilitate mutual understanding. Provide a customer‑focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of IT‑related experience in batch scheduling, production control operations, or mainframe/distributed system job processing. Experience with CA‑7 scheduling, monitoring, updating, and troubleshooting batch job streams. Knowledge of IBM JCL and the ability to interpret, update, and validate batch job instructions. Experience diagnosing and resolving batch job failures (abends), including job restarts and incident ticket creation. Experience supporting/Application Manager (APPWORX) or similar distributed scheduling tools. Experience developing or maintaining batch job flows, dependencies, and documentation. Demonstrated clear and effective communication skills. Customer‑focused approach with active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving. Education in Information Technology or an IT‑related field may substitute for experience: a master’s degree for 18 months, a bachelor’s degree for 12 months, and an associate’s degree for 6 months. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a mainframe production environment. Experience using TSO/ISPF for mainframe processing activities. Experience providing technical guidance or training to team members in production control or batch scheduling tools. Experience participating in disaster recovery exercises, validating job streams or system restoration steps. Experience using or supporting distributed scheduling tools such as Application Manager (APPWORX).
