Duties Description

Duties include driving a variety of motor vehicles both on and off State property to transport people, material, and equipment as required, plowing snow from roadways and parking lots, mapping routes, itineraries, and points of call, moving or carrying cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle operated, moving or carrying cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point, posting manifests, inventories, and other records of goods and people transported, tending to the routine maintenance of vehicles operated in order to ensure that cargo is moved as required, changing oil and spark plugs, changing tires and washing vehicles, pumping gas and adding water to radiator, oil to crankcase, and air to the tires, replacing lamp bulbs, and operating and maintaining motorized equipment in support of maintenance, grounds, or building trades crews.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C, or General Class D license.

Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
