POSITION SUMMARY

Promotes the enrollment, retention and completion of students. Plans, coordinates, and implements programs and activities that reach out to potential students using techniques such as speaking to community groups, organizing programs and events to enhance school readiness, and making direct contact with assigned students. Minimum Qualifications / Education and Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- An associate degree, or the completion of at least sixty (60) college-level semester units; or, in the absence of an associate degree, two years of experience working in a student services-oriented role at a community college or other college/university. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in dual enrollment, college access, or K–12 to college transition programs at a community college or other higher education institution. Experience working in student support programs serving first-time college students, low-income students, current or former foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, students with disabilities, formerly incarcerated students, and students with dependent children. Experience using Banner or similar student information systems (SIS). Experience tracking, maintaining, and entering student data accurately in Banner or comparable ERP systems to support program reporting and student success efforts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Canva, and related applications. Experience collaborating with high school counselors, administrators, faculty and other support programs. Demonstrates sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigration status, and cultural background of community college students, faculty, and staff; and successfully fosters and supports an inclusive educational and work environment. Licenses and Certificates Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs a variety of specialized duties to support student recruitment, completion and retention. Assists students with enrollment and registration. Provides information to assigned students regarding application procedures and college registration, facilities, services, and the instructional program. Provides information on district policies and procedures. Maintains electronic records for student contacts ensuring privacy of confidential student information. Assists in providing guidance, support and assistance to students concerning class schedules, career goals, instructors, and academic progress. Assists students in resolving problems and in communicating effectively with others. Assists with preparing informational materials including newsletter articles. Prepares and distributes statistics on assigned students and sends to appropriate personnel for assessment. Refs assigned students to various district resources, community employment and social service organizations. Assists assigned students in navigating college support services and with connecting with Student Life and Leadership Development Program activities. Communicate with student services personnel, faculty and student body groups to exchange information and coordinate activities. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge – Knowledge and understanding of Student Equity Plan objectives and the diverse student population served by the district. Skills – Well-developed human relations skills to convey success strategies to students and to coordinate with faculty, coaches, and liaisons; proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications to generate reports. Abilities – Ability to independently perform all duties with efficiency; analyze student performance and develop action plans; present information clearly; perform data entry and database management; communicate with a wide range of contacts; adapt to varying work schedules. Physical Abilities Sedentary work; ambulatory ability to move to various locations; computer use; ability to lift and carry lightweight materials occasionally. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient for conversations and reading materials. Working Conditions Indoor work with minimal safety concerns.
