Adjunct Instructor – Geography Position Title: Adjunct Instructor – Geography. The role is part‑time and involves teaching geography courses for the Arts, Communications & Social Sciences Division. The college offers a flexible schedule, supporting both on‑campus days and evenings. Job Summary The college is accepting applications for part‑time instructors to teach geography. Adjunct applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; applicants are placed in an applicant pool and contacted only when a teaching assignment becomes available and their qualifications match course requirements. Responsibilities Promote the college philosophy, mission, and vision. Deliver engaging, enthusiastic, and student‑centered teaching to community college students. Maintain a professional classroom atmosphere that encourages mutual respect and civil engagement. Convey essential content of the geography discipline that students should master. Maintain high academic standards while demonstrating equitability and fairness. Collaborate effectively with other faculty. Establish productive communication with students. Prepare the course syllabus following the college‑approved format and content. Conduct classes according to the published schedule. Evaluate student progress through scheduled assessments and exams. Return graded work promptly to students and keep accurate grade records. Advise students as appropriate. Participate in any additional duties required of an adjunct instructor to ensure quality instruction. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Commitment to fostering an engaging learning environment for a diverse student body. Flexibility to teach on‑campus days and evenings. Instructional expertise to deliver instruction for 21st‑century learners and assess student learning outcomes appropriately. Proficiency in a range of teaching and learning strategies to foster active learning and student success. Willingness to participate in activities or college committees that contribute to student success. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Geography or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Geography. Experience teaching in‑person and/or online. Preferred Qualifications Experience with dual‑credit/early college instruction. Physical Demands Work is performed in a general office environment. Requires light physical activity, including moving up to 25 lbs with proper equipment. Must have vision sufficient to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech sufficient for communication in person, before groups, over the phone, or during virtual meetings.
