In this role, you will shape the roadmap for your area to align with Step's broader business goals, operating at the intersection of customer experience, business performance, and regulatory reality, and balancing growth, risk, and compliance as we scale. As we continue to grow, you will play a crucial role in using data-driven insights to define priorities, executing product strategies, and turning ambiguous problems into shipped product. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, data science, legal, compliance, operations, marketing, and finance, and leverage AI tools to move faster from insight to shipped product.In this role, you will:Partner with leadership to define the vision and strategy for your product area, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectivesOwn your roadmap end to end, from problem definition and prioritization through launch, iteration, and scaleLeverage analytics, user research, and industry trends to identify high-impact features, optimizations, and experimentsWrite clear specifications that lay out the problem, objectives, key elements of the solution, decision rationale, and the metrics that define successWork cross-functionally with design, engineering, data science, legal, compliance, operations, marketing, and finance to build, launch, and scale productsMonitor key product metrics, measure impact, and iterate based on learnings to continuously enhance the customer experienceBalance growth, risk, and compliance in product decisions, and communicate the tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders across the companyUse AI tools to deliver better consumer experiences and business outcomes fasterYou might thrive in this role if you have:8+ years of product management experience, preferably in consumer fintech or consumer mobile productsA track record of building, launching, and scaling consumer products, from ideation through growth, with measurable business impactStrong analytical skills, with experience using BigQuery, Looker, Mixpanel, or similar analytics toolsExperience using AI tools day-to-day, with evidence of how they've made your work faster or betterExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholdersDeep customer empathy and a passion for building products that deliver real valueA proactive, outcome-oriented mindset with a bias for action — you act as an owner, move with urgency, and are comfortable with ambiguityEven better if you have:A background in software engineering, design, analytics, or technical product managementExperience in a regulated environment, or with banking, payments, lending, growth, or risk and fraud productsPrior experience at an early- or growth-stage startupLogisticsLocation: Remote (US) or San Mateo, CA, with occasional travel for team offsites and key meetingsReports to: Chief Product OfficerEducation: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceWe encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every single qualification.
