Director of Tax Consultant

Part-time Director of Tax | $80-$150/hr | Contract-to-Hire | Remote (Nationwide) / San Diego Preferred

This position will oversee tax compliance, reporting, planning, and process improvement efforts while serving as a key partner to finance leadership. Who You Are:

• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience with a strong foundation in federal and state income tax matters
• Experience preparing or overseeing ASC 740 tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and related financial reporting requirements
• Knowledge of multi-state tax compliance, indirect tax considerations, and jurisdictional reporting requirements
• Familiarity with international tax concepts, cross-border compliance matters, and working with external advisors
• CPA, MST, or related accounting/tax credentials preferred
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, process improvements, and internal control development is a plus

What You'll Do:

• Lead corporate tax compliance activities across federal, state, and international jurisdictions
• Oversee tax provision calculations, reporting requirements, and support external audits and examinations
• Partner with finance and accounting teams to improve forecasting, reporting accuracy, and tax-related analytics
• Manage relationships with outside tax consultants and service providers
• Identify opportunities for tax efficiencies, credits, incentives, and risk mitigation strategies
• Develop scalable policies, procedures, and controls to support business growth and regulatory compliance
• Support system enhancements and process automation initiatives related to tax reporting and compliance
